It can be quite a challenge to maintain your yoga practice while travelling. But to be honest it is when I need my practice the most. When you are moving around a lot it is quite tiring yet exciting but always a lot new expressions to take in and make new friendships. In order for me to truly enjoy travelling I need to “ground” myself before I can give myself completely to the world. Actully this is not only accurate when you are travelling, but for everyday life aswell. To be able to give your energy, shine and be radiant to your surroundings you have to take care about the most important first; YOU. If you are not in balance nothing else in your life can be in balance.

So everyday I spend 30-60 min of practice pranayama mostly Kabalabhati, Bhastrika, naddishodana and kumbaka. This is something really simple I can do on busses, airplane or airports. It takes so little but the feeling afterwards is very rewarding.

Kabalabhati (breath of fire) is really good for your digestive system and it makes me feel purified and also           gives a nice sense of clensing away my thoughts.  I do 3 rounds starting slow then increase the                         intensity-

After that I do around 10 rounds of nadishoodana (alternative nostril breathing) this helps you to balance             your female and maskulin energy in the body it cleans your “nadis” which is the enery channels in the               body.

I practice Bhastrika usally 20 breaths normal this is “the pump breathing” you inhale and fill your chest               then axhale forcefully.  After that I practice bhastrika with closing one nostril inhale and exhale forcefully             on another side repeat around 15 times then change to opposite side.

Now my lungs and diaphragm are well exercised and I usally finish with Kumbhaka (holding breath inside)           Trying to hold at least 1 min.

After this practice my mind feels clear and I can meditate without any disturbing thoughts. Usally I                     meditate around 20 min but it all depends on what I feel for.

Sure people might look a bit strange when you do for example “breath of fire”… But I am one of those lucky bastards that doesn’t really care to much what people think unless you do something that disturbs others. Something I learned from my father that use to go into fancy stores with his working clothes and we try to stop him he always says; - It’s all about confidence… And that is very right, you are what you think you are… J But the other day the local women was scared I heard from our neighbor they thought I was doing some satantistic ritual…Well well might consider hiding a little bit!

Days that I am travelling useally this Pranayama practice is what I do, don't really have any energy to do asanas but at least this helps me to maintain my practice.
